An anchor and reporter at ABC11 is leaving the station after two years.

Sydnee Scofield, who anchors the weekend morning newscasts alongside Steve Stewart, announced Saturday, Nov. 22 that she was leaving the station to return home.

“I’ve spent most of my career away from my family, and after experiencing some challenges in my personal life this year, it’s time to head home to Washington,” Scofield said in a social media post.

Her last day at ABC 11 will be Wednesday, Dec. 3.

In her announcement, Scofield did not comment on her future career plans.

“I need to say a huge thank you to all of you here in North Carolina who have been so kind and welcoming to me over the last two years, including so many of my amazing coworkers (especially the amazing Steve Stewart!!),” she wrote on social media. “I’m grateful for each and every one of you, and I’ll really miss it here.”

During her time in Colorado, Scofield won an Emmy for her reporting on the impact of the war in Ukraine on a woman in the state.

She was also a reporter and multimedia journalist at the ABC affiliate KOLO in Reno, Nevada.

Scofield has a degree in broadcast journalism from Arizona State University, according to her LinkedIn account.
