One dead in fiery crash on Raleigh’s Capital Boulevard
The driver of a sedan in a fiery single-vehicle crash died Sunday morning on Capital Boulevard near Durant Road, Raleigh police said.
The crash happened before 5 a.m., Raleigh police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said.
The investigation so far shows the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed as it ran off the road to the left, she said. The car traveled down an embankment and struck a tree, causing it to roll onto its passenger side.
“The vehicle continued traveling on its side and struck a second tree causing it to catch on fire,” she said. “The 24-year-old male driver died at the scene.”
His name has not been released. There were no passengers.
WRAL first reported the wreck.
