ABC11 anchor departs to start a new endeavor that will ‘spread positivity’
ABC11 anchor and reporter Julie Wilson announced on Sunday morning’s newscast that she is leaving the station and that this is her final week at the station.
Wilson, who came to WTVD in 2017, anchors on Sunday mornings and is a breaking news anchor on the Monday through Thursday morning newscasts in Raleigh.
As a reporter, Wilson reported from the coast during Hurricane Florence, showing boat rescues in New Bern and winning the hearts of animal lovers when she saved a dog during a live shot.
In her announcement Sunday morning, Wilson said the past year during the pandemic has been difficult, but it has also allowed her to “assess the direction I’m going in this life.”
Wilson said she will become an entrepreneur, “morphing into a travel journalist, documenting the beauty of what is around us via YouTube, hoping to spread some positivity and beautiful sights.”
She thanked viewers for welcoming her into their homes for the past four years. Chatting with co-anchor Tim Pulliam and meteorologist Steve Stuart at the end of the segment, Wilson said, “I feel like I started out very nervous and now I’m ready to soar.”
Wednesday morning will be Wilson’s last newscast.
