Leydi Eliane Salazar-Camargo, 35, died at the scene after the collision just before 3 a.m., according to police.
Salazar-Camargo was standing in front of the Ford Explorer she was driving when it was struck by a Honda Accord driven by Antonio Demetrius Powell, 48, who had minor injuries.
Powell was charged with driving while impaired, no insurance and displaying a revoked license tag.
Salazar-Camargo’s flashers were activated when the crash occurred, police said.
Police believe three other people were in the Ford Explorer, including a man who was located at a convenience store more than a mile from the crash site. The man was treated for head and facial injuries. The other two people were gone when police arrived.
Miami Boulevard was closed for more than five hours.
It was the second fatality in two days related to a disabled car in the Triangle.
On Monday a man was killed after he stopped to change a flat tire on Interstates 40/85 in Hillsborough, the N.C. Highway Patrol reported. The driver fled the scene.
