Man accused of secret peeping at the Raleigh school where he worked, police say
A 37-year-old Raleigh man is accused of secretly taking photos underneath a person’s clothes at the Raleigh private school where he worked, city police say.
Todd Christopher Aberts is charged with secret peeping and possessing a photographic image from peeping, Wake County court records show. He was arrested Wednesday.
Police say Aberts was at St. David’s School when he secretly took two photos of an 18-year-old “for the purpose of viewing her body or undergarments without her consent.”
Aberts is prohibited from having contact with that person as well as anyone under the age of 18, according to jail release records. He was also ordered to stay away from St. David’s School, which is listed as his employer in court documents.
Aberts on Thursday morning was in the school’s online directory as “Technical Theater, AV & Reservations Coordinator.” The listing has since been taken down.
“Yesterday afternoon we learned a staff member may have inappropriately photographed a fully-clothed upper school student,” Headmaster Jonathan Yonan said in an emailed statement Thursday. “The School immediately turned the matter over to the police for investigation. The staff member arrested is no longer employed by St. David’s.”
The school says “the safety and well-being” of students is its top priority, according to the statement.
Aberts is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to go to court Thursday afternoon, according to Wake County records.
