Car falls into a ravine while driver tried parking in Raleigh, police say
A woman “panicked” while she was parking her car Thursday — and plunged 30 feet into a ravine, Raleigh police say.
The driver was trying to back up into a parking lot in the 3000 block of Business Park Drive and “pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake,” police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said in an email.
The woman “panicked,” and her the blue Honda went over a retaining wall in a parking lot of Scholastic Book Fairs near Interstate 440, reports ABC11, The News & Observer’s media partner. The top of the wall separating the parking lot from the ravine was ground level.
Police say the driver had non-life-threatening injuries from the fall, and video shows the woman’s car coming out of the ravine.
