Game show host retweeted by Trump deletes Twitter account after son gets coronavirus

A former game show host appears to have deleted his Twitter account after announcing his son tested positive for the coronavirus.

On Sunday, Chuck Woolery accused the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, news media, Democrats and doctors of telling “outrageous lies” about COVID-19 in a post retweeted by President Donald Trump.

Woolery tweeted the next day that the virus is real, saying his son tested positive for COVID-19 and he feels for “those suffering and especially for those who have lost loved ones.”

By Thursday, his account was no longer on Twitter. Deadline reports the account disappeared Wednesday evening.

Trump defended retweeting Woolery after he was questioned by CBS News reporter Catherine Herridge.

“I reposted a tweet that a lot of people feel, but all I’m doing is making a comment,” Trump said. “I’m just putting somebody’s voice out there. There are many voices. There are many people that think we shouldn’t do this kind of testing because all we do — it’s a trap.”

Woolery, who previously hosted “Wheel of Fortune” and other game shows, has more recently “turned his attention to examining current events and politics through his no-nonsense, conservative perspective,” according to the website for his podcast “Blunt Force Truth: The Show.”

The site describes it as a podcast for “people who know that ignorance is not bliss; ignorance is dangerous.”

Despite his absence from Twitter, Woolery released a podcast episode Thursday with guest Newt Gingrich.
