Listed: $3.5M Chapel Hill home near 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course
Set back from the street at the end of a long driveway, the 7,550-square-foot transitional home at 32430 Archdale is up for sale in Chapel Hill.
The home, which the listing describes as custom-built by the late NBA veteran and UNC legend Eric Montross, sits on a 2.5-acre lot in the exclusive Highland Pond neighborhood of Governors Club.
The gated community is built around the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, about a 22-minute drive south of downtown Chapel Hill.
The exterior features cedar siding, Virginia-stacked sandstone, decorative beams and a double-arched entrance. Inside, it’s an open-floor plan with a two-story vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling stone-façade fireplace. A wall of windows offers sweeping views into the private yard.
“From the moment one steps inside, the expansive windows of the great room will mesmerize,” the listing reads.
Montross, who died at 52 last December, worked with local architect Keith Shaw to build the home more than two decades ago.
Since he sold the home in 2008, it’s changed hands several times and recently been renovated, listing agent Gretchen Castorina told The N&O.
The home offers four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. Other amenities include a chef’s kitchen with two parallel quartz-topped islands, bonus room, office with skylights, private deck and a four-car garage.
“This is more than a home,” she added. “It’s a statement,” said Castorina, a Realtor with Durham-based Compass.
The home is listed for $3.5 million, or $464 per square foot.
Homeowners’ association fees are “around $3,752 annually.”
