Arizona-based homebuilder Taylor Morrison has snapped up roughly 95 acres of undeveloped land just west of Thomas Brooks Park, near the Wake–Chatham county line. It’s at 45 Thompson Road in the fast‑growing area between Apex and Jordan Lake, west of N.C. 540 and south of I‑40.
The price tag: $26 million, according to property records.
The sale is the latest sign of continued demand in western Apex, near the Jordan Lake corridor.
“[It’s] a highly desirable submarket for new homebuyers,” Mike Reynolds, the firm’s Raleigh division president, told The N&O on Monday.
“It boasts excellent connectivity to major thoroughfares, daily conveniences, and employment corridors.” It also offers “highly rated schools,” he added.
The firm plans to bring a new high-end community at 45 Thompson Road called Rockyford. It will include 122 single-family homes, with four- and five-bedroom “ranch-style” floorplans, ranging from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet. It’s near Taylor Morrison’s 190-home Young Farm community in West Cary and the 444-home Gracewood community in western Apex.
Prices will range from $800,000 to $1 million. (That’s considerably higher than Apex’s median sale price for all housing types, which stood at $630,000 in March, according to Redfin data.)
The developer is behind at least seven projects in the Triangle, a mix of single-family homes and townhomes.
As Apex’s population swells to over 82,000, demand for housing remains at an all-time high. The town estimates that by 2030, it could have more than 100,000 residents.
