  • Loft at The Streets at Southpoint will close.
  • Store removed from Loft website; in-store inventory marked down and final sale.
  • Other Triangle Loft locations in Raleigh and Morrisville will stay open.

After a year of notable retail openings, The Streets at Southpoint is losing a tenant.

The women’s clothing store Loft is closing at the Durham mall.

“The landlord opted not to renew our lease at that location,” KnitWell Group, the company that owns Loft, told The News & Observer in an email.

The N&O reached out to mall owner Brookfield Properties for comment.

KnitWell Group, which also owns brands including Ann Taylor, Chico’s and Soma, did not immediately respond to The N&O’s question about the Durham store’s last day.

However, Loft has removed the Southpoint location from its website, and a call to the Durham store did not go through. On a recent visit to the store, a N&O reporter saw that the store’s inventory was discounted and final sale.

Are other Loft stores closing in the Triangle?

No other Loft locations in the Triangle are closing, Knitwell told The N&O.

There are three other Loft stores in the area, at Crabtree and Triangle Town Center in Raleigh and at Park West Village in Morrisville.

Recent openings at Southpoint mall

Loft’s closure comes after multiple stores opened at the Durham shopping center in 2025.

Capital One Café is expected to open on Level 1 near Altar’d State, according to the mall’s website. There are currently no Capital One Café locations in North Carolina, according to the company’s website.

The Streets at Southpoint is located at 6901 Fayetteville Road in Durham.
