50 Big Lots stores in NC will reopen in coming months. Here’s where and when
Fifty Big Lots stores in North Carolina will reopen this year, with the first wave scheduled to reopen in May.
The North Carolina-based company Variety Wholesalers, which operates discount store brands including Roses, Maxway and Super 10, is taking over many Big Lots stores that were previously expected to close amid bankruptcy.
One Big Lots location in the Triangle and one in the Charlotte area are among the first stores to reopen, according to a list provided to The News & Observer by Variety Wholesalers.
All continuing Big Lots locations will be reopened by early June, Variety Wholesalers said in an email.
Big Lots is among several large retailers that have closed stores over the past year, facing bankruptcy. The fabric chain Joann is closing all stores, but the party supplies store Party City has kept some locations open — though none of them are in North Carolina.
When will the first set of Big Lots stores in NC reopen?
The first 13 stores will open May 1. These include the Wake Forest location at 12295 Capital Blvd. and Gastonia store at 2587 W. Franklin Blvd.
