Raleigh is positioned to get a new headquarters, bringing more than 170 white-collar jobs that promise to pay at least $170,000 a year.

North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee on Tuesday approved incentives for the technology firm Ralliant to open its main office in the North Hills district of Raleigh. Ralliant is a new entity, introduced last month when the Washington State industrial conglomerate Fortive announced it plans to separate its precision technology division into an independent public company.

In a Feb. 5 news release, Fortive said Ralliant products will center on testing, sensors and subsystems for aerospace and defense. Jobs at its future Raleigh office cover finance, human resources, legal compliance, IT support and corporate development, the North Carolina Department of Commerce said Tuesday.

Under the terms of its state job development investment grant, or JDIG, Ralliant targets hiring 180 workers at its incoming headquarters by 2029, with only nine of these positions permitted to be remote. As part of this deal, the Fortive subsidiary Dynapar must retain 263 workers it employs in southeastern North Carolina’s Bladen County.

Ralliant aims to pay its Raleigh staff an average annual salary of $189,479, with a minimum wage of $170,500 needed to comply with its JDIG (the state typically does not share projects’ anticipated median salaries). The Commerce Department said Ralliant will invest $2.12 million at its local office.

If Ralliant achieves its hiring and wage goals, it will be eligible to receive up to $2.6 million in future payroll tax benefits from the state. It will also receive $107,000 in combined incentives from Wake County and the city of Raleigh as well as $678,000 in state workforce training.

“Ralliant’s decision to establish its headquarters in Raleigh reflects the city’s dynamic economy, highly skilled talent pool, and outstanding quality of life,” N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley said in a statement Tuesday.

Raleigh edged out Beaverton, Oregon, for the Ralliant office. According to the state’s JDIG program director Jamie Martin, Ralliant picked North Carolina over Oregon due to its “lower labor costs” and “strong workforce pool in key positions.”

“We are excited to build our future here,” Ralliant CEO Tami Newcombe said in a statement. “Driving breakthroughs, empowering progress, and shaping what’s next.”
