Starting in the 1960s, visitors flocked to North Hills Mall, one of a handful of indoor malls on the Atlantic coast and the first in the Raleigh area.

Today, the development along Six Forks Road just north of the Beltline looks nothing like the North Hills Mall from half a century ago.

The shopping center was demolished in the early 2000s, and construction at North Hills since then has created a mixed-use destination with retail, restaurants, office and residential space.

And the changes aren’t complete.

Property owner Kane Realty has announced several new tenants over the past year, and more are on the way.

Here’s a list of businesses open now and a look at what’s to come.
