Skechers is opening a new store in Raleigh. Here’s when and where you’ll find it
Skechers is set to open its second Triangle store later this year.
The retailer, which is known for comfortable footwear, plans to open a brick-and-mortar at Brier Creek Commons Shopping Center in Raleigh.
Skechers representative Jennifer Clay told The News & Observer in an email that the store is expected to open “in the fourth quarter of this year.”
The store will be located between Total Wine and Bath & Body Works in a suite formerly home to Pier 1 Imports, which closed in 2020. According to a leasing flier, Skechers will occupy about 10,800 square feet. Brier Creek Commons, located at 8181 Brier Creek Parkway, includes a variety of retail stores and restaurants including Target, a Regal movie theater, BJ’s Warehouse Club and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Skechers has stores throughout North Carolina, but the only one in the Triangle is at Cary’s Crossroads Plaza.
According to Skechers’ website, the retailer has more than 5,200 stores globally. The California-based brand had $8 billion in sales in 2023.
What else is coming to the Brier Creek area?
- A large racquet sports facility, Swing Racquet + Paddle, is being constructed on a 44-acre site at 6121 Mt. Herman Road, The News & Observer reported in February. The facility will have 28 tennis courts, 25 pickleball courts, 16 padel courts, four beach tennis/volleyball courts, a ping-pong lounge, a walking path and nature trail, and restaurant and retail space.
A steakhouse called Epic Chophouse, which has North Carolina locations in Greensboro and Mooresville, is also expected to open this summer at the Raleigh shopping center, according to the restaurant’s website.
