Popular grocery chain Publix will open three new stores in the Triangle.

Founded in Florida in 1930, the grocer is expanding with three locations in Wake and Johnston counties.

The stores will be located at:

  • 821 S. Main St. in Rolesville
  • 16100 NC Hwy 50 North in Garner
  • 7330 Buffaloe Road in Raleigh

A media relations manager for Publix said in an email to The News & Observer this week that the locations “will open soon.” In a follow-up email, the Publix representative said the stores are all on track to open in 2025. They’ll each employ about 140 associates.

Publix already operates more than 50 stores in North Carolina, including in Raleigh, Wendell, Cary, Wake Forest, Apex, Clayton and Durham. The location at Durham’s Marketplace at Ellis Crossing opened in March 2023 and was the first for the city, The N&O previously reported.

The company prides itself on being named a great employer. Forbes included Publix on its list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For from 1998-2022, according to the retailer’s website. Publix has also been recognized for its philanthropic work and customer service.
