Publix plans to open its 10th Triangle location. Here’s where and when.

The Publix grocery chain will open its first Garner location — its 10th store in the Triangle — in early 2025, the company announced.

The Florida-based company will build the new store in the Middle Creek Crossings development at the intersection of N.C. Highway 42 and N.C. Highway 50.

There is already a Lowes Foods across Highway 50 from the proposed development and a Food Lion diagonal from the location of the new Publix.

The company has a lease on a 48,387-square-foot building, according to a press release from Publix.

Jared Glover, media relations manager for Publix, said a grand opening date will be announced a few weeks in advance. Hiring for the new store will begin closer to its opening, Glover said. Publix usually hires 130 to 140 people for a new store, he said.

Publix currently has 53 stores in North Carolina. Of the nine already in the Triangle, two are in Raleigh, three are in Cary, and there is one each in Durham, Wendell, Wake Forest and Apex.

A Lidl grocery store also recently opened in Garner, at 2694 Timber Dr.

Glover said Publix decided to open the store due to both its desire to grow in general and an increasing number of requests to bring a store to Garner and surrounding towns.

“So we’re happy to join them,” Glover said.
