Get ready, Wegmans fanatics. The grocery store chain will open Cary store next week.
Wegmans has announced the official opening date of its newest Triangle store.
The new Cary store, on Davis Drive at Airport Boulevard, opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29.
The Rochester, N.Y.-based company had previously said it was shooting for an opening around the first of August.
Wegmans announced the new opening date in a tweet last week.
The 103,000-square foot store is in the Twin Lakes Center in Cary.
Wegmans had postponed the opening of a new store in Harrison, New York, originally scheduled for June. Harrison is located in Westchester County, the site of New York’s first COVID-19 “hot spot.” Wegmans announced on July 22 that the Harrison store will open on Aug. 5.
The west Cary store will be the Rochester-based chain’s second North Carolina location, following the opening of the Wegmans on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh in September 2019.
That opening broke the company’s first-day record for number of visitors. About 3,000 people waited in line for the 7 a.m. opening, with many camping out overnight, and more than 30,000 people came through the store on the first day.
