A Triangle food hall has expanded its cuisine options with two new dining concepts.
The concepts at Old North State Food Hall are from existing vendors.
Located in Selma, at 67 JR Road off Interstate 95, the 15,000-square-foot food hall now hosts Garfield’s Pizza and Wingy’s Home of Flavorful Wings.
The pizza restaurant is from Marquis Reese, owner of Mr. Outrageous Burgers & More, and the wing place is from Adil El Haimeur and Youness Alqoh, owners of Spice Me Up Authentic Mediterranean.
The food hall, a former JRs Cigar warehouse, is also home to Aroma de Cuba, Pat Thai Asian Fusion, White Swan Bar-B-Q and Fried Chicken, and Longleaf Tavern. The Cuban vendor, which began as a food truck, and Longleaf Tavern, a bar built inside an old cigar humidor, are the remaining two of the original food hall vendors.
Garfield’s Pizza opens in Selma
Garfield’s offers a variety of hand-tossed, oven-fired pizzas.
“I want to offer our customers something different, like our Burnt End Brisket Pizza featuring a BBQ base, brisket, pickled onions, sweet and spicy sauce and mozzarella,” Reese said in a news release.
While there’s a create-your-own option, Garfield’s makes the classic pizza joint styles: cheese, pepperoni, margherita, Meat Xtreme — with Italian sausage, bacon, ham and pepperoni — and a vegetarian option among them.
In addition to the brisket pizza, Garfield’s also has a Cheesesteak Pizza, topped with shaved ribeye, onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheese, and a Chicken Alfredo Pizza, made with Alfredo sauce.
Signature pizzas range from $14-$18, and cheese and pepperoni are $12-$13.
Wingy’s opens in Selma
Owners of the food hall’s Mediterranean concept saw the popularity of their chicken gyro wraps and decided to capitalize on it, according to a news release.
Wingy’s serves bone-in chicken wings (starting at $9), boneless chicken tenders (starting at $11), available in three sizes, and chicken sandwiches alongside fries and mozzarella sticks.
Bone-in wings are coated in a customer’s choice of sauce. Wingy’s has several options, including buffalo, honey barbecue, garlic parmesan and lemon pepper.
The concept also makes three types of sandwiches ($14), with crispy fried chicken, spicy chicken and honey chicken.
For kids, Wingy’s sells an order of chicken fingers and fries for $8.
Food halls in the Triangle
Old North State Food Hall, which opened in 2022, is one of several food halls in the Triangle. Unlike the others, it is located just off the interstate.
Downtown Raleigh has two food halls — Morgan Street Food Hall and Transfer Co. Food Hall, which both opened in 2018. There’s also a food hall in downtown Durham.
And another venue is expected to open this year at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
