The Honey Baked Ham Co. has opened in the Triangle ahead of the busy 2025 holiday season.

The newest store, located at 1203 Parkside Main St. in Cary, is the company’s fifth permanent store in the Triangle, joining locations in Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest and Durham.

Known for its signature spiral-sliced hams, the store also serves lunch. Sandwiches ($10-$12) made with ham and turkey are layered with cheese, lettuce, tomato and condiments on croissants, rolls and other breads.

The new Cary store, which opened Monday, Nov. 10, spans just over 2,600 square feet and can seat 22 people inside. It’s open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

“After 27 years with the Honey Baked family, it’s an incredible honor to continue this journey, bringing our signature hams and exceptional service to the North Carolina community,” general manager Keith Gover said in a news release. “We look forward to becoming a cherished part of this vibrant neighborhood.”

Parkside Town Commons shopping center, where the new Honey Baked Ham store is located, also houses restaurants and retailers including Mahana Fresh, Target, Harris Teeter and Hobby Lobby.

Store could help relieve ‘Ham Jam’

The new store comes just weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas, among Honey Baked Ham’s busiest times of the year — a fact many Triangle residents know well.

Each year around the holidays, the area around the Honey Baked Ham off Six Forks Road in Raleigh becomes a traffic nightmare known as “Ham Jam,” as customers stop by to pick up their orders — perhaps a bone-in half ham, priced at just over $11 per pound this year, or a shareable side of green bean casserole ($12).

Lines of people stretch outside the store, and police officers help direct traffic.

One more location isn’t the only factor that could help lessen congestion around Honey Baked Ham during the holidays.

Honey Baked Ham stores are holding seasonal hours for Thanksgiving and Christmas, opening earlier and closing later than normal each day.

For example, the new Cary location will open at 9:30 a.m. daily starting Thursday, Nov. 20. On Monday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Nov. 25, the store opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m.

Honey Baked Ham is also operating a seasonal store in Garner (1440 Garner Station Blvd.), expected to open Wednesday, Nov. 19, during the holiday season.
