Triangle restaurant gets ‘B’ for live roaches, dirty equipment: Scores (Nov. 4)

The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.

Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants’ adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.

You’ve likely seen sanitation grade cards at restaurants you’ve visited, and The N&O previously what those scores mean and how they’re calculated.

Here are sanitation scores in Triangle counties from Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Wake County sanitation scores

The Wake County inspection management system shows that 102 restaurant inspections were completed Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

• All restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%

Durham County sanitation scores

The Durham County inspection management system shows that 26 restaurant inspections were completed Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

• Most restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%.
• One restaurant received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.

Glasshouse Kitchen (5 Laboratory Dr, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709) received a score of 83.5% on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

• The restaurant was in violation of 21 standards.
• Violations included raw beef above cheese and raw oysters above ready-to-eat foods in a reach-in cooler and at least one staff member observed working in kitchen without hair restraints. Cleaning was also needed of walls behind cooking line and at dishwashing area, as marked as moldy.
• The restaurant previously scored 98% in June 2025 and 94.5% in January 2025.

Orange County sanitation scores

The Orange County inspection management system shows that 25 restaurant inspections were completed Oct.28-Nov. 3.

• All restaurants received an A grade.

Johnston County sanitation scores

The Johnston County inspection management system shows that 16 restaurant inspections were completed Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

• Most restaurants received an A grade.
• One restaurant received a B grade.

Flippin’ Wings (11466 US-70 BUS, Clayton, NC 27520) received a score of 85% on Thursday, Oct. 30.

• The restaurant was in violation of 11 standards.
• Violations included live roaches seen in the facility, food spills, debris, and build up on equipment. The utility sink was also not draining properly and needed to be repaired, a strong odor was coming from the plumbing in this area.
• The restaurant previously scored 92.5% in June 2025 and 97.5% in February 2025.

Chatham County sanitation scores

The Chatham County inspections management system shows that one restaurant inspection was completed Oct.28-Nov. 3.

• The restaurant received an A grade.
