A new Mexican restaurant is the latest tenant to join a mixed-use development near Raleigh’s Dix Park.

Campo Taco Co. has been announced as the third business for Rockway, a Kane Realty project that will include residential and retail space.

“Our goal with Campo is to create a space where everyone feels welcome and connected — to the environment, to the food and to the dynamic spirit of the Raleigh community,” Minerva Llamas, a partner and development strategist at Campo, said in a news release. “We’re incredibly excited to bring this story of nature, culture and cuisine to life.”

Few details have been shared about the family-owned Campo Taco Co., but the restaurant is expected to open this year at 1001 S. Saunders St.

Campo’s menu will offer tacos, “intentionally crafted dishes” and a “lively bar program” including margaritas, Latin American wines and local brews.

The restaurant announcement does not offer specifics regarding food and beverages beyond that.

However, according to a news release, Campo (which means “field” in Spanish) is taking a corner space on the ground floor of The Row apartments and will have an “expansive patio.”

Benchwarmers Bagels, which Bon Appétit once named one of the best new restaurants in the country, will be one of Campo’s neighbors at The Row, a 335-unit apartment community.

The popular bagel shop will take a 4,000-square-foot space, The News & Observer previously reported, and will offer wood-fired bagels, weekend pizza nights and a drink program, including brunch cocktails and in the evenings, beer and wine.

This will be the second Benchwarmers Bagels in Raleigh. The first, at Transfer Co. Food Hall, will remain, and a third location is planned for the North Hills Innovation District.

BK Pilates, which offers reformer-based workouts, has already opened at The Row. It is the first Triangle location for the fitness company, which has studios in the Charlotte area, South Carolina and New York.
