A specialty toast and juice bar will open in Raleigh later this year, joining one of the Triangle’s massive new developments.

Founded in Washington, DC, the quickly expanding brand Toastique will open its first Triangle location in The Exchange Development along The Beltline. This will be the second Toastique location in North Carolina, following an already open spot in Charlotte.

Know for cold-pressed juices and gourmet toast boards, the Raleigh Toastique will be owned and operated by Jessalyn Abril and Kristi Kaltenbach.

“We’re honored to bring Toastique to Raleigh and to be part of a community that values health and wellness as much as we do,” said Jessalyn Abril and Kristi Kaltenbach, in a news release. “The Exchange Raleigh’s dedication to creating a well-rounded, thriving environment makes it the perfect location for Toastique’s first venture in the Triangle. Whether you’re starting your day with a wholesome breakfast, enjoying a leisurely brunch, or grabbing a quick lunch, Toastique is sure to become your go-to destination for exceptional flavors and quality.”

Toastique opened in 2018 and now has locations coast to coast, with at least two dozen new restaurants currently in the works.

The Toastique menu

The menu is known for fancy toasts on rustic, thick-cut bread. Options include the ubiquitous avocado toasted, topped here with watermelon radish, marinated tomatoes and microgreens; a three-cheese toast with prosciutto; another with pastrami-style smoked salmon and cucumbers; and a Mediterranean version with hummus, tomatoes and olives.

The menu also includes breakfast fruit bowls, juice blends and smoothies.

The Raleigh Toastique joins The Exchange development, which will also the ambitious global restaurant Peregrine. The Exchange is owned by developer Dewitt Carolinas and will be a 40-acre campus near Wake Forest Road, along the Raleigh Beltline. Toastique will open in the 1000 Social building in the development, a 12-story, 990,000-square-foot tower.

“We are excited to welcome Toastique to The Exchange Raleigh,” said Steven Beattie, Executive Vice President of Dewitt Carolinas. “This dynamic concept perfectly aligns with our commitment to fostering health and wellness throughout the development. Toastique’s fresh, responsibly sourced menu enhances the vibrant, healthy lifestyle we envision for the community and adds another layer of energy to the property.”

Toastique expects to open in the fall of 2025.
