A top Triangle wing restaurant is expanding into Raleigh for the first time
One of the hottest wing joints in the Triangle is finally heading to Raleigh.
Heavenly Buffaloes will expand into Raleigh this year with its fourth Triangle location. The new spot will be on Glenwood Avenue in North Raleigh, taking over the former Hungry Howie’s pizzeria.
Heavenly Buffaloes started as a takeout shack in Durham in 2015 and has since expanded with restaurant locations in Durham and Chapel Hill. The Raleigh space is expected to open in 2024.
Co-owned by Dain Phelan and Mark Dundas, Heavenly Buffaloes has been a takeout superstar in the Triangle for nearly a decade. In 2022 the brand won the Triangle Wing Bracket as the overwhelming favorite in a poll voted on by readers of The News & Observer.
Each location runs a similar menu, with bone-in flats and drumettes as the foundation, plus bone-less nuggets and vegan wings. Sides include popular waffle fries and sweet potato fries, both of which can be seasoned with Heavenly Buffaloes dry rubs like lemon pepper and jerk.
For the wings Heavenly Buffaloes boasts more than two dozen sauces and dry rubs, ranging in heat from sweet barbecue to “Burnie Zass-Hoff,” which seems self explanatory.
The Raleigh location is currently working through permitting and will open later this year.
