The owners of one of the Triangle’s most recognizable diners will open a new spot in downtown Raleigh.

The Smoky Hollow development on Peace Street in Raleigh announced three new additions this week: a diner, cocktail bar and Pilates studio.

From the owners of The Shiny Diner in Cary, Tucker Street Diner will open in Smoky Hollow later this year as a new modern take on the classic all-day restaurant. Owned by Michelle and James Park, Tucker Street Diner will have a coffee shop, an all-day breakfast menu and dishes blending the classics with modern trends.

The Parks bought The Shiny Diner in 2018 from original owner Gypsy Gilliam. Late last year they opened their second restaurant, Peak City Diner, in Apex.

Smoky Hollow’s new cocktail bar

Following the departure of New Anthem’s taproom, the team behind Madre, the stunning new Spanish tapas restaurant in Smoky Hollow, will open a cocktail bar. The bar is currently unnamed, but promises batched cocktails on tap, beer, wine and small bites.

On the wellness side, the Florida-based Pilates studio JETSET plans to open its first North Carolina location in Smoky Hollow. The workout spot is owned by Renee Aquilino and Katie Myers.

“We are so excited to welcome these three new retailers to Smoky Hollow,” said Stacey Buescher, managing director of operations for Kane Realty Corporation in a news release. “Each retailer brings something unique to the table, contributing to the diverse tapestry of businesses that make this neighborhood so special. We are committed to the success of downtown retail, and these new establishments represent the kind of quality and innovation we strive to attract. Merchandising mix is crucial in these areas and this group fills the gaps we were seeing. A new wave of life to Smoky Hollow is here ready to further enrich our community.”
