One of the country’s hottest burger brands will open its first Raleigh location next month in the Village District.

Shake Shack announced that it will open its Raleigh restaurant Thursday, Nov. 9. This marks the famed burger shop’s third full-service Triangle location, following spots in Cary and Chapel Hill, plus another counter location in PNC Arena.

The Triangle’s first Shake Shack opened in Cary’s Waverly Place shopping center in 2019, debuting with long lines of fans braving the August heat.

Shake Shack has become a fast-casual icon for its take on the roadside smashburger, made with thin griddled patties, squishy potato buns and crispy crinkle-cut fries. The brand is also popular for its chicken sandwiches and concretes, their custard-based milkshakes.

The Raleigh location will be the seventh Shake Shack in North Carolina, opening with a large 3,678-square-foot dining room and a 600-square-foot patio.

The Raleigh Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9, plus there will be a performance from the Broughton High School marching band. The first 100 people through the door will go home with free Shake Shack swag.

On opening day, $1 from every sandwich sold will go to food insecurity charity PORCH Raleigh. The restaurant is also accepting food donations for PORCH Raleigh.

The Raleigh Shake Shack will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, located at 2010 Clark Ave. in the Village District.
