Here's what you'll need: two plastic water bottles, a marker, scissors, rubber bands, twine, and a handful of sturdy sticks, ideally bamboo. You could also opt for wooden dowels. The best part about this project is that you can truly customize it to fit your own home's aesthetic. If you want it to be longer and larger, you can opt for longer sticks or a larger water bottle. The choice is yours.

How to Make This Hanging Planter

Cut one of your water bottles horizontally in half, and toss the top. You will only need the bottom. Insert the full bottle into the cut bottle, top first. (You can use a spot of glue on the inside to ensure they stay together.) Using your marker, draw a rectangle onto your combined bottles, and cut it out with your scissors. Wrap a rubber band around each end of your bottle.

Start adding your sticks by tucking them under the bands, all the way around the bottles. You will have to cut a few of the sticks to fit around the cut-out rectangle. Once the bottles are covered, replace the rubber bands with twine. Last but not least, add your soil and plant inside the rectangle. Use an additional piece of twine as your hanger.

Whether you hang it from your porch or from your garden fence, this easy DIY planter will add a unique touch to your space.
