We all have those times when we just want to go to sleep but have to fight the urge to close our eyes. You've seen it on others - the droopy eyelids, the head bobbing up and down, the blank stare. That yearning to hit the hay and head to dreamland is incredibly overpowering and can even look adorable on kids and fur babies who are doing their best to stay awake.

Saint the Golden Retriever puppy is the perfect picture of over-the-top cuteness as he hits that sleepy time of day.

In the TikTok from @mygoldensaint, the precious puppy leaned in as his mom gave him some gentle pets, and he clearly started to unwind. Saint exuded a total zen vibe as he let himself fully relax. His droopy eyes and lack of neck control clearly showed his desire to doze. The expression on his face looked like he was saying, "I need to lie down."

"Does anyone else's puppy turn into a baby seal when they're sleepy?" the on-screen text asked.

Followers fell in love with the fatigued fur baby and commented on their own sleepy pooches:

  • "That's the cutest baby seal I've ever seen," one remarked.
  • "That's not a puppy - that's a sleepy marshmallow," another noted.
  • "My boy turns into a lemur," a follower shared.
  • "Mine turns into shark when she's not sleeping," someone posted.

How Much Sleep Do Golden Retriever Puppies Need?

Most puppies spend their first few weeks of life napping and need between 18 and 20 hours of sleep per day. Golden Retriever pups up to 12 weeks old usually spend most of the day slumbering as their bodies develop.

Between 3 and 4 months old, Golden puppies' sleep needs cut down to about 16 to 18 hours a day. They become more active and curious, with nap times getting shorter.

At 4 to 6 months, puppies start developing more predictable sleep patterns. They still need about 14 to 16 hours of sleep daily, but they are more alert and energetic at this stage.

When a Golden Retriever pup is about 6 months to 1 year, they usually have longer nighttime sleep with less naps throughout the day. These puppies clock in approximately 12 to 14 hours of sleep per day. Providing regular exercise and sticking to a schedule greatly benefits your puppy's growth and development.

Saint is clearly still in the early stages of life so he may have that adorable heavy-eyed look for a few more months.
