A cat sitting in a windowsill spotted an unexpected visitor staring back at them, but instead of freezing up or being startled, this little kitty's claws came out. This seemingly protective cat appeared determined to drive away the bear from their home and their human.

"I was reading in bed when I looked over to Little Bear looking into my window ," @missashleyrubes, the fierce feline's human wrote in the caption of this cat TikTok video, and they're so lucky to have such a fluffy protector guarding the house. From this cat's behavior in the clip, this furball was not backing down!

This kitty isn't afraid of anything! After all, that's one brave little cat to go head-to-head with a bear, even if it is on the other side of the window.

This also isn't the first time their human has encountered bears. In a recent TikTok post, they joked about five bears that live in their backyard.

Awkward Situations - KENTHOEZ

While a bear sighting may be common for this furry one, their courage is still impressive.

Why Cats Are So Fearless

Domestic cats can have both protective instincts and offensive, predatory instincts. Though in domestic cats, those more feisty responses are generally reserved for catching mice or birds.

In this situation, predatory instinct may not explain why this kitty took a swipe at the bear. But this somewhat aggressive cat behavior could be a result of them being scared or afraid.

PetMD explores the various forms of feline aggression, and a few could apply to the cat in this video. One kind is fear aggression. It happens when a cat reacts aggressively because they cross paths with an unfamiliar animal (like a bear), human, or startling sound. They can also respond negatively to environments where they've had bad experiences in the past.

Another possible category that could apply to this scenario is territorial aggression in cats, which occurs when animals or humans enter a kitty's designated space and the cat feels threatened. Since the bear was so close to the window, this cat may have seen the bear as a threat to their home. That may be why this feline responded by swiping at the "window visitor."

We hope this kitty was able to relax after "Little Bear" ducked and eventually left. While this funny cat reaction is hilarious, we prefer cuddles over claws any day!
