Mom Starts Spiraling, Cockatoo Chooses Absolute Chaos

Some support systems bring soup.

Some bring a comforting hand on the shoulder.

This Cockatoo, apparently, brings absolute nonsense.

In this video, Mom is lying in bed with Miky planted squarely on her chest, which is already an incredible visual. The caption on the video says, "POV: Miky helps you through a psychotic break," and the post caption adds, "He always does some BS when I'm upset, but it makes me laugh, thanks Miky." That really is the whole story in one sentence. Miky isn't arriving with calm, measured emotional support. He's arriving like a tiny, feathery chaos goblin whose personal healing method is making sure your breakdown now has a punchline.

And honestly? Respect.

Miky isn't doing therapy in the traditional sense. He's doing whatever weird little bird thing is in his spirit at the moment, and somehow it works. Mom is upset, Miky clocks in, and instead of offering peace, he offers distraction, absurdity, and the kind of bird energy nonsense that pulls you out of your own spiral for 5 seconds just to go, OK, what's wrong with you.

Sometimes that is enough.

That is also why people who have lived with Cockatoos understand this immediately. These birds are not subtle. They don't gently hover in the background waiting to be invited into the emotional moment. They enter the scene like they have been cast in a one-bird production of Fixing It Wrong but Weirdly Well. One comment says, "Cockatoos love making their people feel better. I used to have one that would comfort me all the time when I was sad. She wasn't so mischievous, lol, she'd just pet my face and call me pretty girl." Which is so sweet and somehow makes Miky even funnier, because clearly there are two types of emotional support Cockatoos: the tender little therapist and the unlicensed clown.

Miky is very much the second type.

And maybe that's why this works. He's not trying to be elegant about comfort. He is just refusing to let Mom be alone in the bad moment without also making it a little ridiculous. There is love in that. Chaotic love, sure, but love all the same.

Why Cockatoos Get Weird When You're Upset

Cockatoos are intensely social birds, and they're often very tuned in to their people's routines, moods, and attention. VCA Hospitals notes that Cockatoos are highly emotional, demanding, and affectionate birds who thrive on interaction and companionship, which helps explain why some of them seem to react immediately when their person is off.

So no, Miky may not be providing textbook emotional support.

But he is absolutely committed to emotional intervention by whatever means necessary.
