The Rat Pact YouTube channel follows the journey of four pet rats named Frankie, Sammy, Deana, and Joey, and in this clip, someone has an eye-opening experience drinking soup for the first time.

At first, the adorable little creature takes a curious sip, then steps back to savor the warm spices and comforting flavor. After rubbing their little hands together and contemplating the essence of soup and existence, the rat goes back to heartily gulp up a few more sips.

Of course, as soon as you run to the comments, the Ratatouille jokes start flowing.

"Next thing you know; he'll be sitting on top of your head, pulling your hair to control your arms and hands. They'll make an even better soup and eventually win a Michelin star," one commenter laughs.

"Had to stand back they were so in awe," another says.

"He stood back like 'I'm getting cinnamon, garlic, a beautiful beef stock,'" another jokes.

What Can Rats Eat?

While this video does seem to imply rats have very sophisticated palettes, the truth is, folks with pet rats must be very careful about what they feed their tiny friends.

Citrus fruit is especially dangerous for male rats, as this can lead to kidney issues. Meanwhile, regular soup ingredients like onions and garlic can cause digestive issues for these furry friends. We're sure The Rat Pact's mom only served the highest-quality, rat-approved ingredients in this soup, and anyone looking to recreate this moment with their pet should be careful to do the same.

Chocolate and sugary snacks are also not good for rats, as they are so tiny and can easily become overweight. Most importantly, you must never feed your pet rat raw beans or peanuts, as these are toxic to rats. Sticky foods can also be a choking hazard. These are real little guys!

It's always safest to stick with commercial rat food or delicious goodies including vegetables, fruits and grains such as cooked pasta, cooked oats or small amounts of cooked chicken.

Of course, if you want to introduce your pet rat to the marvels of soup, just be sure you make it yourself from the healthiest rat ingredients.
