Cats aren't usually fond of a trip to the vet, and this kitten learned one of the reasons firsthand during her first visit.

In an adorable TikTok video, a sweet kitten had a very dramatic reaction when the doctor gave her a shot for the first time. In the video, she let out a shocked and upset meow after the vet gave her the shot.

She seemed confused about exactly what had happened before she turned to the vet and yelled at him. After she tried to soothe the spot, the vet gave her the shot, and she eventually calmed down when he gave her a treat.

In the caption, the vet noted that they gave her a treat after the "little one got the first shot." He also clarified that "Our internal parasite needle burns a little, but it is necessary for her sake ."

Users online sympathized with the baby's first time at the vet and commented that he should "Apologize to her," especially after the shot.

"Please console her," one person commented, while another wrote, "You got cussed all the way out ."

Another user pointed out that "she's mad at you" and added that the "apologies were accepted with the treat ."

What to expect during your kitten's first vet visit

If you're taking a kitten to the vet for the first time, it can be stressful for both you and the kitten. However, there are several things pet parents can do to ease the experience for the baby.

When you adopt a new kitten, Chewy reccomends that pet parents take their new baby for their first vet visit as soon as possible so "Your veterinarian [can] become familiar with your new adoptee and review the records provided by the shelter and provide or schedule any needed additional care."

A kitten will most likely be anxious during their first visit, especially in the waiting room, so it's important to talk to them and keep them calm in their carriers. If it seems like too much, pet parents can also request to wait in the exam room, especially if the kitten seems overwhelmed.

During their first visit, vets will likely conduct a full physical exam of the kitten and ensure they're vaccinated. This is also a great opportunity to get advice from the vet on caring for your cat, especially if this is your first time, and to make sure everything is in order with your kitten's health.
