Some people might just drive on by when an injured animal needs help, but others step up and help. One Canadian truck driver got the opportunity to pull over and make a difference. It's not every day you come across a moose while out on the road (although, it might be for Canadians). Sadly, the buddy in this video was in a bad situation and needed human help.

The caption sets the scene: "A tow truck driver in Canada helped a young moose that was stuck in ice along a road in Saskatchewan." Clint Gottinger saw the ungulate unable to free himself. Rebel, as the moose was later named, needed an assist, specifically from a tow truck driver. So Clint hooked him up and got him to safety. While he needed a few days to recover, Rebel finally felt better and went back to the wilderness.

You probably saw this coming, but commenters adored both Rebel and Clint. We liked how @VT Gabbe summed it up: "What a heartwarming story! Well done, Sir." @Victor Hargre added, "Thanks for the good news we need." But the best statement came from @clone7567, who quipped, "Such a wonderfully Canadian thing." Sometimes we just love Canadians.

Survival Instincts of Moose

Moose can weigh up to 1,400 pounds, but they generally travel solo, so they can be vulnerable. In many cases, the biggest threat is wolves. A moose might look threatening to a human, and you should walk away if you see one, but a pack of wolves sees a moose as a hearty meal. Of course, these animals have large antlers that work well as a defensive mechanism. Moms will also protect their babies. Without horns, they use their hooves to kick predators aggressively.

When it comes to cold, moose usually love it. Overheating is often a bigger concern. That makes climate change a pretty enormous threat to these big guys. Luckily, this particular giant deer made it through and found his freedom, thanks to a tow truck driver.
