Durham Bulls need one more win to clinch International League title

The Durham Bulls needed one more game on Friday to clinch their second straight International League Governors’ Cup title.

But in Game 4 of the best-of-five series, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders took a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning and went on to win 5-2, tying the series at 2-2.

Shortstop Jake Cronenworth scored the Bulls’ first run of the game in the seventh inning on second baseman Kean Wong’s two-out single, according to the Bulls’ website. Durham score again in the eighth when left fielder Joe McCarthy scored on a single by first baseman Nate Lowe.

Bulls right-handed pitcher Zach Lee took the loss after giving up three runs in 3.1 innings. RailRiders’ left-handed pitcher Ryan Bollinger earned the win with six strikeouts in 5.2 innings, according to the website.

The entire Governors’ Cup series was moved to PNC Field due to Hurricane Florence.

The series, now tied at 2-2, continues Saturday at 4:05 at PNC Field in Moosic, Pa., with the winner earning the International League title.
