Pat McAfee Shuts Down 'Negative' Critiques of Taylor and Travis' Wedding

Pat McAfee has a message for those criticizing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's star-studded Madison Square Garden wedding.

"That was the most spectacular evening I have ever been a part of. I cannot wait to chit chat about that throughout the day," the sportscaster, 39, said on the Monday, July 13, episode of his eponymous talk show. "I'm sure there was something that I agreed to not talk about, but from the things that I've been reading about other people talking about it like kinda sorta cause there were no phones in there. There is no notes section, no writing or anything so it's literally all just memory."

McAfee joked that he doesn't "have much in this world" besides a "sweet tank top collection," a Pittsburg accent and a "pretty good" memory.

"How could you forget anything that happened that night?" he quipped.

The broadcaster also defended Swift and Kelce, both 36, from the "negative" critiques they've received on social media regarding their highly-anticipated nuptials.

"So anybody that's saying anything negative about that place … now granted, shutting down a pulsing city and that whole thing, you guys can have your thoughts on that," he said. "The event itself was like the most spectacular grand thing I've ever seen in my entire life."

McAfee applauded Swift for being "one of the greatest creators that the world has ever seen."

"She puts on stadium shows all around the globe. She has to entertain people that are 90 and also 15," he recalled. "Think about her brain going to her dream wedding and then Travis Kelce's energy in the middle of it."

McAfee gushed about how incredible it was to see "the football world coming together" with Hollywood and international superstars. He shared that Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper and Brad Pitt were there - he was even served a "Jack and diet" by the F1 actor. McAfee also shared that all of Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates attended the wedding, adding that he saw Patrick Mahomes "in the middle of the dance floor" at one point during the evening.

"I don't want to give away too much but it was the greatest night of all time," he gushed. "My wife and I had a blast. They absolutely showcased that they are in love, it was very obvious."

McAfee stood by Swift and Kelce to slam online trolls who described the event, attended by 1,000 of the newlyweds' nearest and dearest friends and family members, as "tacky."

"Just know anything negative that has ever been thought about the event … me and my wife understood that we didn't understand why we were invited but we were very excited and thankful and we let them know," he shared. "We had a blast, it was incredible. Everything was just obviously top of the line. And Travis Kelce is very much in love, seems very happy."

Swift and Kelce tied the knot at the iconic New York City venue on July 3. The newlyweds have not publicly shared many details from their nuptials, revealing only that their siblings served as their official wedding party and the ceremony was officiated by comedian and actor Adam Sandler.
