American Ninja Warrior Junior (6 p.m., Universal Kids) - Raleigh kid Hunter Rowland has advanced to another week of competition! Tune in tonight for more ninja-ing.

Somewhere South (9 p.m., PBS / UNC-TV) - This week’s “Dumpling Dilemma” episode explores dumpling traditions across the south, including visits to an Asian community on the Mississippi Delta and a Jewish community in Jackson, Mississippi. In North Carolina, Chef Vivian Howard’s trip to Durham’s Pizzaria Toro restaurant includes a lesson about dough-rolling and forming Italian dumplings. And of course, no dumpling episode would be complete without the classic comfort food of Howard’s southeastern North Carolina home: chicken pastry.

Dateline NBC (9 p.m., NBC) - Dennis Murphy reports on the bizarre bank robbery in Connecticut that involved the robbers taking a bank executive and his mother hostage and then forcing the bank executive to rob his own bank. Matthew Yussman had a bomb strapped to his waist and was sent to rob the bank, and at first, investigators believed he was part of the plot. Interviews with Matthew and Valerie Yussman, Sergeant David Mocarsky, former Police Chief Jim Wardwell and more.

Tigertail (Netflix) - In this poignant new multigenerational film, Pin-Jui (Hong-Chi Lee) is a free-spirited yet impoverished young Taiwanese factory worker who makes the difficult decision to leave his homeland — and the woman he loves — behind in order to seek better opportunities in America. But years of monotonous work and an arranged marriage devoid of love or compassion leave an older Pin-Jui (Tzi Ma) a shadow of his former self. Unable to sympathize with his daughter Angela (Christine Ko) and at risk of living out his retirement in solitude, Pin-Jui must reconnect with his past in order to finally build the life he once dreamed of having. The film spans continents and decades, from 1950s Taiwan to present-day New York City. “Tigertail” is written and directed by Alan Yang and stars Joan Chen, Yo-Hsing Fang, Kuei-Mei Yang, Kunjue Li and Fiona Fu.
