A popular reality television show known for transforming trash into treasure is coming to North Carolina.

The History Channel’s “American Pickers” series will be filming across the state in February.

Starring Mike Wolfe, Danielle Colby, Robbie Wolfe and Jersey Jon, the documentary series focuses on the team of skilled pickers as they search for “America’s most valuable antiques.”

‘The mission to recycle America’

“As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, the Pickers are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics,” according to a description of the show.

“Along the way, they want to meet characters with amazing stories and fun items. They hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.”

After 26 seasons with 392 episodes, the Pickers are returning to the Tar Heel state in hopes of finding new hidden treasures from North Carolinians with “unique items, a story to tell, and ready to sell.”

‘American Pickers’ previous trips to NC

The show has filmed several episodes in North Carolina in the past, The News & Observer previously reported.

In Season 1, Mike and Frank find a 1950 Studebaker and a 1934 pre-Airstream trailer, and visit NASCAR racer Ryan Newman. A second episode in Season 1 shows them finding an Andre the Giant action figure and a 1970s Donald Duck toy.

The Season 3 finale is all about NASCAR, and the episode features a look through the attic of “Humpy” Wheeler, the former president of the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Season 6 has four episodes based in North Carolina, with picks including vintage motorbikes, folk art, sideshow relics and a samurai artifact.

A Season 15 episode shows Mike and Frank finding a “one-of-a-kind TV relic,” and a Season 17 episode in the state includes a collection of “weird and wonderful circus and sideshow memorabilia.”

How to get your items on ‘American Pickers’

The Pickers do not showcase stores, flea markets, malls, auction businesses, museums, or anything open to the public, but are looking for people with interesting items to be part of the show.
