Wyndham Clark Wins the U.S. Open - and His Dad's Surprise Visit Steals the Show
Wyndham Clark just won the U.S. Open, and the pro golfer celebrated in a way that's very fitting for the ‘day.'
The last day of the tournament coincided with Father's Day. And that left almost no time for players like Clark to spend with their families. But now that the two-time champ (he won the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023) is finally getting the chance to celebrate with his dad.
In a seriously heartwarming clip posted on the U.S. Open's Instagram page, Wyndham clenches the title and immediately rushes to his father for a big bear hug.
Along with sharing the video, the post also reveals, "Wyndham's dad flew in overnight and surprised him on the 18th hole."
When asked about the sweet surprise during a post-win interview, Clark said, "That was a shock. My dad hasn't been to many events, and last year, not last year, ‘23, he wasn't there, which was really unfortunate, so for him to be here in person is amazing." The champ continued, "Happy Father's Day, Pops. I love you so much. And I'm just glad we could share this together."
"Today is my day."

Who is Wyndham Clark's dad?
Like his son, Randall Clark is also an athlete. Back in 2023 (at the U.S. Open), Clark said of his father, "He took me to tournaments. My dad played professional tennis. He is an athlete; he gets it. He instills hard work and discipline, and I feel like I have a lot of fieriness from him, so he has given me a lot. My dad is a big reason why I'm out here."
The former tennis player had a major health scare in 2024. That September, Wyndham opened up about his father while at Pebble Beach, saying, "So my dad, it's his 70th birthday. My dad, about 16, 17 weeks ago, had open heart surgery. It kind of put a lot of things in perspective. You know 70 is a big number to make it to, and all his friends are around the same age."
He added, "So we brought out eight of his best friends, my brother and I, and we're out here playing Spyglass and Pebble and enjoying ourselves. So, celebrate my dad."
What do fans think of Wyndham Clark's dad?
Fans couldn't get enough of Randall flying all night to see his son win the U.S. Open, writing on Instagram, "What a memory this will be for both of them" and "A special moment, Good for them both."
