A 'Grease' Actor Almost Threw up on a Ride When Filming the Final Dance Scene
Grease has an iconic ending with the students of Rydell High School celebrating graduation. They went to a carnival and Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) debuted her leather look to Danny (John Travolta), who wore a letterman jacket.
The actors were allowed to enjoy some of the rides between takes. One of them almost got sick and was upset about another actor's teasing about it.
Michael Tucci of 'Grease' Almost Got Sick on a Ride
The cast reflected on making the final scene with Yahoo!Kelly Ward played Putzie of the T-Birds. He rode The Octopus with Barry Pearl, who played Doody, and Michael Tucci, who played Sonny.
"And 10 seconds into that, Michael started screaming, 'Let me off, let me off, I'm gonna throw up, I'm gonna throw up!'" Ward said. "And I said, 'Don't let him off, we can keep this going!' I thought he was kidding. But he did not like that at all. I, on the other hand, could have stayed on it all day."

Pearl also wasn't a fan of the spinning ride. "I just don't like that whipping around," the actor claimed. "And I'm yelling and screaming to the operator, 'Turn it off!' He thinks I'm having a good time. I can't remember if Michael wanted off too because I was too busy yelling at the operator to stop."
Olivia Newton-John Was Nervous About Sandy's Makeover
Sandy's big hair, red lips, and black outfit are the opposite of her dress and ponytail. Newton-John once told Vanity Fair that she wasn't confident about the new look.
"That was such a stretch, and something I was really worried about," she said. "But when it happened, it was just this amazing feeling. It was very freeing. Not just for Sandy, but for me as well."

The new look went against the type the actress was typically cast in for roles. "Because I was always the girl next door," she continued. "And then I got into that trailer with those guys and they put me into that outfit and the hair and I walked out to show Randal [Kleiser], and the whole crew turned around. And the look on their faces! I remember thinking, Oh my-I've been doing this all wrong."
The final song, "You're the One That I Want," was written later in the film-making process. Newton-John said John Farrar spent the night writing it before he played it for her in six in the morning. The duet reached No. 1 after 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This knocked Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams' "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" out of the top spot.
Farrar also wrote Sandy's emotional ballad, "Hopelessly Devoted to You." The original song was the only Academy Award nomination the musical received.
The movie did show clips of the movie's characters enjoying the carnival. The actors having fun might also be why the final number is so memorable.
