Why ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Fans Are Being Urged to Stop Visiting Set

Fans of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" are being asked to think twice before visiting Cousins Beach in real life.

After behind-the-scenes moments from the hit Prime Video series' follow-up movie surfaced online, the streamer posted a warning to fans on Instagram.

"We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew," the message read. "We're working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible."

"Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it's ready to be shared. 💛 " alongside a video which of "privacy please" written in sand on the beach.

Fans appeared to be receptive to the message in the comment section. One fan wrote, "Let's just wait and appreciate the process ♥️"

"thank you for saying this! i can't believe people can't respect the privacy of filming," another commenter shared while third fan begged, "Please please please don't ruin it for us 😭"

"this is so sad! hope the cast is safe and okay!! love you guys!" another commenter posted.

Author Jenny Han, who serves as the show's writer, showrunner and executive producer, reiterated the message on her Instagram Story, writing, "When people come to set, film, and share videos, it disrupts the work."

"It makes it harder for actors to get into character and causes unnecessary anxiety for them," she added. "We often have to stop production to clear crowds from the shot, which breaks the crew’s focus."

She concluded: “This story means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to you, too. I want to give you the best version of this movie. Please help protect our process.”

This is not the first time that Prime Video has issued a warning to fans of the teen drama series, which stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer.

Before the show's third and final season premiered in July 2025, the streamer shared on Instagram Stories, “Cousins is our safe place. Everything good, everything magical. Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer."

"We have ZERO tolerance for bullying and hate speech," the message concluded. "If you engage in any of the following you will be banned: hate speech or bullying, targeting our cast and crew, harassing or doxxing members of the community."

The movie was announced in September 2025 following the conclusion of Season 3, but a release date has not yet been revealed.
