That’s because a popular reality TV show has put out a casting call for singles in North Carolina. “Married at First Sight” is inviting people who want to be in serious relationships to audition in Charlotte.

“We like Charlotte as a city because it is bustling with young professionals who are marriage minded and ready to make that commitment,” Donna Driscoll, head of casting for the production company Kinetic Content, told CharlotteFive in a Wednesday, Feb. 25 email. “We find Charlotte very appealing because it is a diverse city.”

Here’s what we know about the show and the casting call.

What is ‘Married at First Sight?’

On “Married at First Sight,” compatibility experts match each contestant with a stranger. The two marry as soon as they meet, and then the show follows the pairs as they go on honeymoons and get to know each other. By the end of the season, the couples must decide whether they will stay in a relationship.

The show, which has roots in Denmark, debuted in the United States in 2014. Season 20 is set to premiere on Peacock, though the release date hadn’t been revealed as of November, according to the streaming service and NBC.

The “Married at First Sight” team has worked on other dating shows, including the fan-favorite series “Love is Blind,” according to Kinetic Content. (”Love is Blind” came to Charlotte just a few years ago, and lots of local spots were featured throughout the show.)

How do I audition in Charlotte?

“Married at First Sight” producers in an Instagram post said they’re looking for “courageous singles” who have “exhausted all other dating options.” The casting call requires that those who participate:

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Be a legal U.S. resident.
  • Not be in a committed relationship or going through a divorce.
  • Not be running for public office.

If you think the show may be a good fit, you can apply online at casting.kineticcontent.com. The application asks several dating-related questions, covering topics that range from past relationships to “deal breakers.”

Driscoll said part of the show will film in Charlotte, but the casting call didn’t reveal other specifics about the production’s locations or timing. The online application may provide some clues, given it asks whether potential contestants have valid passports and whether they will be available for roughly nine weeks between August and October.

In addition to Charlotte, “Married at First Sight” is now casting in Detroit, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.
