J. Cole’s ‘The Fall-Off Tour’ kicks off in Charlotte this summer. What to know

Grammy-award winning Rapper J. Cole is going on tour, and North Carolinians will have two chances to see him live.

“The Fall-Off Tour” kicks off Saturday, July 11, at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, and will end its North American leg with a stop at Crown Coliseum in J. Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville on Sept. 23, according to Live Nation. The arena tour spans more than 50 cities and marks the rapper’s first solo headline tour in about five years.

The announcement follows the release of Cole’s seventh studio album of the same name, which came out Feb. 6.

Pre-sale tickets for the tour opener in Charlotte will go on sale at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, while general on-sale tickets won’t be available for purchase until 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at TheFallOff.com.

On-sale dates for the Sept. 23 show in Fayetteville will be announced at a later date, organizers said.

The rapper and producer, born Jermaine Cole, isn’t shy about his love for the Tar Heel State. Last year he bid an emotional farewell to his Dreamville Festival, which he has headlined since its inception in 2019.

The festival drew hundreds of thousands of music fans to Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh year after year and quickly became “one of the most anticipated events in music,” The News & Observer reported.

“We want to put on some amazing [expletive] for y’all, we want to do it for Carolina,” Cole told festival goers during the event’s fifth and final edition last summer. “We love being able to offer that and bring amazing artists. I want to say thank y’all for making Dreamville Festival a massive success every year.”

A new festival is taking shape under the Dreamville music label co-founded by Cole after the city of Raleigh inked a four-year deal with event organizers, The News & Observer previously reported.

“We’re using the Dreamville label to a certain extent, so (Cole) will obviously be involved,” city manager Marchell Adams-David said at the time. “Whether or not he headlines. That’s probably not going to be an occurrence, but he is a local resident.”

“He is totally committed to this community, and he is totally committed to this festival.”
