‘A grand new adventure.’ Scotty McCreery, wife announce birth of their baby boy
Garner native and country music singer Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, have welcomed a baby boy.
“Next to his mother, he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” said the “American Idol” winner in a news release on Tuesday, announcing the news. McCreery and his wife announced they were expecting in June.
Merrick Avery McCreery was born Monday at 4:34 a.m. in Raleigh. He weighs 7 pounds, 13 ounces and is 21 inches long.
He is named after Gabi McCreery’s father, Merrick “Tre” Dugal III and will be called Avery, according to a news release.
Scotty McCreery said he’s “excited” that the McCreery name will live on through their son. Before, the singer was the last boy in the McCreery family, he said.
McCreery said Gabi was a “rock star” during their baby’s birth and “she has already taken to motherhood like a champ.”
“Part of my joy as his Dad is watching Gabi already crush it as his mom,” he said.
McCreery, 28, and his wife married in 2018 at the Twickenham House & Hall in Jefferson. The couple now lives in Raleigh. Gabi has a background in nursing.
The singer/songwriter is on paternity leave from the road until his Nov. 30 show in Las Vegas, according to the release.
His new single, “It Matters to Her,” released in 2021, recently climbed the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts in the Top 50.
“We have been waiting and preparing all year, and now we are so excited to have our little man here with us,” McCreery said. “We have begun a grand new adventure that will continue for the rest of our lives.”
