David Sedaris is coming home.

The best-selling author and humor writer who grew up in Raleigh will appear at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium on April 13, the venue announced Monday on Facebook.

Sedaris is set to share new stories, take part in an audience Q&A and sign books.

He’ll have plenty of material to draw upon. Sedaris is a prolific writer who has kept busy during the pandemic. He released a greatest hits collection, “The Best of Me,” in November 2020, with 42 previously published essays. He followed that with “A Carnival of Snackery,” in October 2021, a collection of diaries from 2003 to 2020.

He also could offer a preview of new material from “Happy-Go-Lucky,” his first new collection since “Calypso,” which is set for publication May 31.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “‘Happy-Go-Lucky’ will chronicle Sedaris’ own life and the ways we live now, pulling from his daily interactions and observations of seemingly ordinary moments that instantly turn absurd.”

Sedaris graduated from Sanderson High School and made his National Public Radio debut in 1992 with his reading of “Santaland Diaries.” Comedian and actress Amy Sedaris is one of his siblings.

His appearance at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $54 and go on sale Feb. 25 at the Duke Energy Center box office or 800-982-2787. For details, go to DavidSedarisOnTour.com.

The venue requires proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or negative test completed within 72 hours before the event. Face masks are required.
