What are hurt feelings? ‘Jeopardy!’ players miss NC State clue. Raleigh’s not thrilled.

So this is what happens when one of the best “Jeopardy!” players in history finally ends his run.

No one knows where Raleigh is. Or where North Carolina State University is.

Or the very important half of Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Or that Raleigh is part of the Triangle (aka the Research Triangle), that’s been part of countless “Best Places to Live/Raise Your Kids/Work/Retire” lists the past few decades.

You know, the capital of North Carolina.

Hmph.

Raleigh was the answer to an $800 clue on “Jeopardy!” Thursday night under the category of “Geo Trios”: “North Carolina’s Research Triangle consists of 3 university cities: Durham, Chapel Hill & this home of N.C. State.”

Host Mayim Bialik even spelled out the North Carolina in “N.C. State.”

But ... crickets.

None of the three contestant even ventured a guess.

“What’s Raleigh?” Bialik told the players not named Matt Amodio as the $800 clue went to no one and they briskly moved on with the game.

Those with any connection to Raleigh, the Triangle or North Carolina hurled their collective shoes (virtually, of course) at the TV via Twitter.

“Feelings a little hurt right now, not gonna lie,” the City of Raleigh tweeted.

“Wow seriously, you don’t know raleigh???? #fail” tweeted another user who identifies her home as North Carolina.

Then came the ultimate burn from Lee Tyndall, whose bio shows he works for North Carolina state government: “Bless their hearts. Unbelievable!”

Amodio, the “Jeopardy!” champ who won 38 straight games and dominated the show for weeks this summer and fall, tweeted that he is certainly familiar with the Wolfpack.

“I’ve got some NC State friends who would’ve loved that shoutout!” Amodio tweeted.

There was, perhaps, one consolation, courtesy of Twitter user @MrMichaelRubin: “Better than them buzzing in and saying Charlotte.”
