Scotty McCreery talks about his first No.1 Single
Suddenly the top of the charts can’t get enough of Scotty McCreery. He has his second straight No. 1 country single with “This Is It.”
It’s been a long climb for Garner’s favorite native son, who won the 2011 season of “American Idol” but took nearly seven years to get his first No. 1 single — “Five More Minutes,” the leadoff single from his 2018 album “Seasons Change.”
“This Is It” follows “Five More Minutes,” hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Country Singles Chart and Mediabase/Country Aircheck airplay charts.
It also continues McCreery’s streak of deeply personal songs from “Seasons Change,” his first album where he co-wrote every song. McCreery wrote “This Is It” with Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshuis about his proposal to now-wife Gabi Dugal. Footage from their June 2018 wedding in the North Carolina mountains became the song’s video.
“Seasons Change” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s country albums sales chart last March. McCreery even topped the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs’ Beach Music Top 40 last fall with “Barefootin.’”
Previously, McCreery wrote the “Five More Minutes” single as a tribute to his late grandfather.
McCreery’s latest tour played Raleigh just last month. The next closest date to the Triangle on his tour schedule is March 30 at House of Blues in Myrtle Beach.
The third single from “Seasons Change,” will be announced soon, according to a news release.
