Eagles’ backfield stocked and loaded

For the record, there is no chance North Carolina Central will switch to the wishbone next season. The Eagles would probably benefit from the primitive offense - getting three running backs on the field at once - but it won’t be happening in Durham anytime soon.

Eagles enter spring with plenty of questions

The Eagles went 9-3 in 2016, winning their third straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and advancing to the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, falling to Grambling, 10-9. Now N.C. Central gets back to work, on the hunt for an unprecedented fourth consecutive MEAC championship. That won’t be easy, as the Eagles have some huge holes to fill on offense, and some key pieces to replace on defense. But that’s what spring is for, to get a start on trying to figure those things out.

Bell, Henry-Ajudua shine at NCCU Pro Day

With eight NFL scouts in attendance, the players went through the usual procedures — measurements, jumps, bench press, 40-yard dash. After the football players, including 10 former Eagles, wrapped up the four-hour workout, the scouts needed to see a little more. On one end of the field a scout from the Chargers called for former Eagles’ quarterback Malcolm Bell. On the other end, another scout shouted out for Freddy Henry-Ajudua and his younger brother, Emmanuel.
