Durham man shoots himself in the leg but will face no charges, police say
A man who accidentally shot himself in the leg and was hospitalized on Saturday will not face charges.
Durham police said the man accidentally shot himself while sitting in his car. The incident happened at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of East Main Street and Alston Avenue.
Investigators said the man was inside his car when his gun discharged, injuring his leg. They determined the shooting was an accident and did not file charges against him.
The man, who was not named by police, was transported to Duke University Hospital with injuries police called “non-life-threatening.”
