Kai Trump Reacts To Getting 'Blamed' For Knicks' Game 3 Loss
The New York Knicks hadn't lost a game in nearly two months heading into Monday night's NBA Finals game. But the streak ended in Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals. The Spurs topped the Knicks, bringing the series to a 2-1 New York advantage.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump and his granddaughter, Kai Trump, attended the game. President Trump and his granddaughter attended the game as a guest of Knicks owner James Dolan. Security was increased, watch parties were shut down and streets were blocked off, as a result of President Trump's visit.
Due to the extreme levels of attention surrounding his visit, some Knicks fans blamed President Trump and his granddaughter for the loss, accusing the Trump family of "cursing" the New York NBA franchise.
"Its Trump's fault the Knicks lost Game 3!" fans claimed on X. "You know it! Cursed!"
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith made it clear that he would blame the Trump family if the Knicks lost Game 3.
"If it causes the New York Knicks to lose tonight, I'm blaming him," Smith insisted. "I'm blaming the president of the United States! I'm gonna stay on that. And (expletive), I hope the GOP loses votes because of it if we lose tonight! I'm gonna be against them. All of them! I'm telling you right now. We better not lose tonight's game.
"I've been fair-minded, down the middle as an Independent for a long time. (Expletive) hath no fury like Stephen A. scorned if the New York Knicks lose tonight. I'm gonna be in their (expletive) like back pockets, like white on rice. I'm telling you that right now. We better not lose tonight's game! We were riding, we were flowing, and this man gonna show up to the Garden tonight. You gotta be kidding me!"
