Two pedestrians hit by cars in separate hit-and-run collisions in Durham died Tuesday, police said Wednesday.
Manuel Sanchez, 55, of Durham, was crossing Holloway Street just east of U.S. 70 around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, when he was struck by the left front corner of a dark gray sedan headed east on Holloway Street.
Police said the sedan would have been missing the driver’s side headlight and turn signal after the accident. The car also appeared to have had previous body work due to the evidence found on scene.
Brandon Zeigler, 33, also died Tuesday. He was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of South Briggs Avenue and Riddle Road around 11:40 p.m. Friday. The driver was gone by the time Durham police arrived.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on Riddle Road toward South Briggs Avenue, according to police.
No charges have been filed in either case, and police are still trying to identify suspects.
Sanchez’ family set up a Gofundme page to raise money for his funeral expenses. Contributions can be made at gf.me/v/c/vx8t/manuel-sanchez-funeral-expenses
