A woman who says her father stabbed her and her family told a 911 operator she was dying and pleaded, “Don’t let him get me.”

“Please come. My dad is stabbing everybody,” the unidentified caller says on emergency calls released Friday by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’m dying,” she says. “Please send an ambulance. I have a son.”

Wake County sheriff’s deputies charged 54-year-old man Carl Barkley on Monday with stabbing his wife and three children, leaving two of them critically injured.

Barkley was jailed on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. Bail was set at $2.5 million.

Deputies arrived at the 5900 block of Gamble Drive in Southeast Raleigh at roughly 10 p.m. Sunday, spokesman Eric Curry said in a news release.

The first deputy on the scene found one of the children bleeding from several stab wounds.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office arrested Carl Barkley and charged him with stabbing his wife and three children Sunday night leaving two in critical condition.

Barkley’s wife and two other children fled to a house on nearby Franks Drive, but they were also stabbed in the attack.

It took several hours to find Barkley, who had fled, Curry said. Deputies later received a tip that he had checked himself into Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount and arranged for his transport.

Deputies reported Brenda Barkely, 53, in stable condition; Adonnas Barkley, 23, in stable condition, and both Aaliyah Barkley, 22, and Aaron Barkley, 16, in critical condition.

In one of the 911 calls released Friday, the caller who had fled to a neighbor’s house said her father was mad “because my mom caught him cheating or something.”

The operator asks questions like how old her father is and what he is wearing and assures her that help is on the way and that she will stay on the phone with her until it arrives.

In 2013, Barkley served 11 months in prison after he was convicted on a 2011 charge of possession of a firearm by a felon and a 2009 charge of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the N.C. Department of Correction website.

Barkley is listed on the state Sex Offender Registry for a 2001 conviction for taking indecent liberties with a minor. His victim was 13, the registry said.
